Style Sunday: Nautical

So this week I've been really slacking on the blog posts. I feel like I've started about five new ones and have been too ADD to finish any of them. Overall this week was crazy busy. I've been trying to soak up as much family and lake time as possible before I move to Kentucky in just a few short weeks, go to my little cousin's recital and help out with my sisters graduation party.

This weeks Style Sunday is an outfit that I wore to my cousin's dance recital. My all time favorite look is literally anything nautical. If its red, white and blue, has an anchor or sailboat on it chances are I'm obsessed. So this weeks style Sunday encompasses the nautical look as well as mixing patterns.

Tee- JCrew Factory
Cardigan- Tommy Hilfiger
Skirt- Express
Belt- The Limited
Necklace- The Limited
Shoes- Nickles

I combined my recently purchased J Crew anchor T Shirt with a red skirt and striped cardigan accessorized with gold accents. This look could be worn with or without the cardigan. Which was perfect for the recital when it was freezing inside and blazing hot outside. Another part of this outfit that I love is the mixing of patterns. This can be a tricky thing to execute. I feel that it worked in this outfit because the patters were from the same color scheme and the T Shirt was such a small pattern versus the bold stripes of the cardigan.

What is your favorite nautical look?

Style Sunday: White Jeans

White jeans, every girl has them, they are a classic summer wardrobe staple. Many struggle with finding the perfect pair that you can't see literally everything underneath. I personally always buy my white jeans from The Limited (order here). They are the perfect thickness without being bulky.  But because of their thickness I always go up a size in them. I recommend to go up a size in all white jeans, no mater the brand. This helps with the see through aspect and overall makes the jeans lay flatter. For this outfit I paired my white jeans with a green and white sleeveless top, a pink blazer, wedges and some of my favorite bangles. This look completely screams summer!

Blazer: The Limited
Top: Banana Republic
Jeans: The Limited
Wedges: Guess
Bangle: Lilly Pulitzer
Bangle: The Limited (x2)

How do you wear your white jeans?

Lilly Pulitzer Agendas Available for Pre Order

Yes you read that right, the Lilly Pulitzer 2014-2015 agendas are now available for pre order! If you currently do not use an agenda go and pre order one now! It will literally change your life. I absolutely could not live without my Lilly agenda. It is my life line. I am so crazy busy that my agenda keeps me sane and organized. My current agenda is the Jumbo size and I can never go back to any of the smaller sizes. If you are as crazy busy as I am I highly recommend the Jumbo. You can write so much more in both the monthly and weekly calendars. It is defiantly worth the extra money.

The new agendas come in more sizes than ever before; small, medium, large and jumbo. Ranging in price from $17-$34. They come in several adorable prints including "Jellies be Jammin'", "Peelin' Out", "Lilly Lovers", "Trippin and Sippin", "Let's Cha Cha" and "Tusk in Sun".

I pre ordered the Jumbo Agenda (of course) in "Biggest Fan".

Order yours here

Did you pre order an agenda? If so what size/print do you prefer?

Style Sundays: Get Nauti Shorts

Happy Memorial weekend everyone! I apologize, I've really been slacking in the blog posts lately. Between preparing for my big move, keeping up with my last class, and my sisters graduation, its been a whirlwind.

This week's Style Sunday is styling the Lilly Pulitzer Get Nauti Liza shorts. I love everything and anything nautical and these shorts are no exception. Of all the Lilly shorts I own these are hands down my favorite. I paired the shorts with an orange cotton tee, which really brought out the orange accents in the shorts. I then added the white blazer in order to dress up the look just a little bit more.

Blazer: The Limited
Tee: The Limited
Shorts: Lilly Pulitzer
Jewelry: Kate Spade
Shoes: Nickles

What are your all time favorite Lilly shorts?

Best Life Lessons Sex & The City Taught Us

This summer is surly a life changing summer for me. I am the only one of my best friends graduating in June and moving away in July. All of my friends are living in our college town this summer all together and are continuing to live together in the fall. It has been really difficult for me to wrap my mind around the fact that I'm soon leaving all my friends and they will be continuing on all together. Leaving them is going to be extremely tough.

Currently I am taking my final class of my undergrad career and visiting my best friends a few days a week in the meantime. So this week when I visited, in typical fashion, we all sat around and watched sex and the city for hours and hours on end. Drinking wine and catching up all the while. Our conversation turned to our lives and our friendship and how it connects to the episode we were watching. I then realized how many life lessons I really have taken away from this monumental show.

1. Love yourself.

2. Your friends really are your soul mates.

3. Not to settle.

4. Everything happens for a reason.

And most importantly ....

5. How to be a great friend.

Kristin

Best Dressed: Met Gala

The Met Gala is one of the most important fashion events of the year. The gala formally kicks off the Metropolitan Museum of Art's yearly Costume Institute exhibit. Celebrities are always trying to out do one another with a more creative and glamorous look. Sometimes those looks turn out ...and sometimes they don't. This year the theme was a tribute to Charles James America's First Couturier.

Here are some of my favorite looks from the evening:

1. Blake Lively

2. Sarah Jessica Parker

3. Selena Gomez

4. Kendall Jenner

5. Taylor Swift

What was your favorite look?

Top 10 Reasons Why Michigan Summers are the Best

Summer is my favorite time of year and Michigan is the best place to spend a summer. Here are my top ten reasons why Michigan Summers are the best!

10. The Fudge

Nobody does it better! Michigan is known for its Mackinac style fudge, and in the summer the fudge business is in full swing. It is always fresh and handmade, there is really nothing better!

9. Cherry Festival

Cherry Festival is held every summer in the gorgeous town of Traverse City. It has been named one of USA Today's top ten festivals for several years. This festival includes a parade, several cook offs, an air show, pie eating contests, and many more exciting events. It is definitely one of the highlights of the summer. This years festival is July 5th- 12th. You can get more information here!

8. The Boat Race

Formally known as Port Huron to Mackinac Race, this race is now 90 years old and over 200 boats compete annually. It is certainly a sight to see! This year the race will be July 12th -14th.

7. Tahquamenon Falls

These breathtaking falls are located in Paradise, Michigan in the upper peninsula. They are definitely an amazing sight. These falls are one of the largest waterfalls east of the Mississippi, the Upper Falls has a drop of nearly 50 feet and is more than 200 feet across. There are several campgrounds and gorgeous hiking trails all along the falls.

6. The Vineyards

There are over 100 vineyards and wineries throughout the state of Michigan, each one as amazing as the other. Many of these vineyards and wineries are home to several award winning wines. With over 15,000 acres of vineyards Michigan is truly its own wine country.

5. The Mackinac Bridge

At five miles long the Mackinac Bridge is currently the fifth longest suspension bridge in the world. This bridge connects Michigan's Upper and Lower peninsulas and it is beyond breathtaking

4. The Little Beach Towns

Michigan is known for its little beach towns, there are more than I can count. Each town is unique and offers a new experience to those who visit. These towns truly add to the character of Michigan and are buzzing with excitement in the summer months.

3. Sleeping Bear Dunes

With over public 100,000 votes, Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore was named the "Most Beautiful Place in America" on ABC's Good Morning America. I would have to agree. Sleeping Bear dunes is a place like no other. It is truly amazing.

2. Mackinac Island

Mackinac Island is such a unique place. This island was named one of the top ten islands in the world and it truly is. It is a place where you can relive the simple pleasures of life. Mackinac Island has something to offer for everyone. Rugged outdoor activities, breathtaking coastal views, carriage tours, and horseback riding are just a few pieces of the puzzle that make Mackinac Island a popular, all encompassing travel destination.

1. The Beaches

The number one spot has to go to the hundreds of Michigan beaches. Almost all of the top ten wouldn't be on the list if it weren't for the beaches around them. Michigan has the largest number of freshwater beaches in the world and they are all as beautiful as the next.

I have so much love for this amazing state I get to call home (at least for the next few months). If you've never visited you have no idea what you're missing. What is your favorite michigan summer activity?

Kristin

Style Sundays: Seersucker

This weeks Sunday Style is focused on every preppy girls favorite summer material, seersucker. Seersucker is a classic staple for summer. Although a summer staple, many women struggle with how to transition seersucker into a more adult and mature look. They fear looking childish or too adolescent. What I've done with this outfit to avoid looking too childish, is having the seersucker be an accent piece. I paired a blue seersucker blazer with a simple navy tee, pale pink jeans and basic flats. I also love stacking bracelets, so I incorporate that trend into this look as well.

Blazer: The Limited
Tee: Old Navy
Denim: The Limited
Shoes: Tory Burch
Watch: Anne Klien
Bracelet: The Limited
Bracelet: Sydney
I absolutely love the way this outfit turned out. I think it is perfect for a sunny spring day or a cooler summer evening. Hope you all are enjoying the new Style Sunday series. Have a great week!

Style Sundays: Chambray

A new series I'd like to start is "Style Sundays". Clothing, makeup and hair trends are all things that I have always loved experimenting with and putting together. I'm often complemented on my outfit, make up, etc. and so I figured why not start posting them for you all to see! So from now on I will post a Style Sunday (almost) every week.

My personal style is very preppy. I have a very defined personal style and I really don't stray away from that very often. I'm not the person who buys whats "hip" or "trendy" very often, unless it fits my preppy style of course.

One trend I'm really loving is Chambray. I prefer a chambray top to be a darker wash and a more structured fit. I paired them with highlighter yellow pants, a more fun pearl and gold necklace and my go to Reva Tory Burch flats.

Shoes: Tory Burch
